About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage version of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film is created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi.

The production follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, in a story about childhood, imagination and discovery. It is brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company and has won six Olivier Awards.

The show has been described as a record-breaking production and is currently running in London.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

Before you book

Age recommendation: 6+. This production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. Children must occupy their own seat at all times during the performance, and all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. It is the customer’s responsibility to check the suitability of the performance for any children in their party.

Please note that single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
