About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End is a stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film. Created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, it is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith.

This production has won six Olivier Awards and is brought to you by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi. It is a record-breaking, award-winning staging now playing in London.

The story follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, exploring childhood, imagination and a fantasy world. The production features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, along with live music and sound effects.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval. Age recommendation: 6+.

Before you book

This production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit.

All attendees, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket, and children need to occupy their own seat at all times throughout the performance. Please note that single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. Younger guests are welcome at relaxed performances.

The show contains themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that will be loud at times and may be scary for some younger children.
