About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi.

The show follows one summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei as they explore a world shaped by childhood, imagination and fantasy. It has won six Olivier Awards and has been described in reviews as a five-star production.

Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: recommended for ages 6 and over. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years old, including babes in arms, will not be admitted to the auditorium. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times during the performance, and all guests aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over who must be seated with them.

All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The production includes puppets, some of which are large-scale and interact in audience space, as well as themes of an ill parent in hospital, live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.

It is the customer’s responsibility to check whether the performance is suitable for any children in their party.
