My Neighbour Totoro is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This record-breaking, award-winning production brings Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film to the stage in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV. It is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, and has won six Olivier Awards.

Adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, the show follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei. It presents a coming-of-age story centred on childhood, imagination and a fantasy world, using puppets, live music and large-scale staging.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: recommended for ages 6 and over. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years old will not be admitted. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, seated with them throughout the visit. Children must occupy their own seat at all times, and every person entering the theatre must have a valid ticket.

Booking notes: single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show contains themes of an ill parent in hospital, live music and sound effects that are loud at times and may be scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
