About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. It is a stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated feature film, created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith.

Brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, the production has won six Olivier Awards. It follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei, focusing on childhood, imagination and a magical fantasy world.

Key facts: Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

This production is recommended for ages 6+. It is not suitable for children under 6, including babes in arms, and children under 4, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, seated with them throughout the visit. Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children.
