About

About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film is created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith. It tells the story of one summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei, following their encounter with a world shaped by childhood imagination and fantasy.

The production has won six Olivier Awards and has been described as a record-breaking return. It is staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi.

Reviewers have called it a tender and remarkably beautiful show, with live music, puppets and large-scale puppets used in audience space.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.
