About My Neighbour Totoro

My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London is the West End stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film. Created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, it follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer as childhood, imagination and family life come into focus.

The production is presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi. It has won six Olivier Awards and is currently playing in London’s West End.

This staging brings the film’s coming-of-age story to the stage with puppets, live music and large-scale stage effects.

Key facts: running time 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval. Winner of six Olivier Awards.
