My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei, as childhood imagination opens into a world of fantasy.
The production has won six Olivier Awards and returns as a record-breaking hit. It is created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi and the Royal Shakespeare Company also involved.
Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.
Age guidance: recommended 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms. Children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them throughout the visit. All attendees, regardless of age, need a valid ticket, and children must occupy their own seat at all times.
Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that can be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children.
Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.
