HIP HANG-OUT TO SPEAKEASY JAZZ BORDELLO CALLS FOR HACKNEY’S COOLEST CATS
Hackney raises it’s hat to the release of Francesca Mondi’s Debut EP at the Devil’s Door official launch party and concert on the 27th April 2017 at Folklore, £5 on the door.
Discreetly positioned throws away from bustling Shoreditch on I86 Hackney Road, Folklore looks to the untrained eye like a decrepit tattoo parlour, yet the shabby exterior holds much chic within. The antiquated bar and 70 person capacity live room will be transformed from hip hang-out into a speakeasy-style jazz bordello as the 10 piece band performs a mix of originals and standards for Hackney’s coolest cats. Come on down for some Old Fashioned cocktails and to support a local artist!
Francesca Mondi is the artist name used by the London vocalist Francesca Raimondi-Taylor. The EP Devil's Door was released this month and is an eclectic mix of styles referencing the bygone days of trad-jazz whilst incorporating playful and modern vocal harmonies and soulful lyrics. The EP features some of London’s top jazz instrumentalists and the launch will showcase the band: Cristiano Castelitto, Sam Edgington, Jon Spanyol and Romeo Velluto.
