RENT is at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London. Jonathan Larson’s musical returns to the West End in a new production directed by Luke Sheppard, with Gaten Matarazzo as Mark.
Inspired by Puccini’s La Bohème, the show follows a group of young people navigating community, connection and uncertainty in New York. Thirty years after it first redefined musical theatre, RENT returns with the score and story that have kept it in the repertoire.
Its focus is on people trying to live fully and make sense of life in difficult circumstances, with the production described as a celebration of resilience and living in the moment.
Duration: 2 hours and 45 minutes, including one interval.
Before you book
RENT is recommended for ages 14+. The production contains themes of HIV/AIDS, bereavement, drug use, suicide, sex and sex work, as well as strong language, smoking, haze and strobe lighting.
