Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre is Sir Tom Stoppard's play transferring to the West End following its critically acclaimed run at The Old Vic. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, this production is being staged at the Duke of York's Theatre, which is being newly renovated into the round especially for the show.

Set in a country house two centuries apart, Arcadia moves between 1809 and the present day. In the earlier story, teenage prodigy Thomasina Coverly explores mathematics, nature and the forces that shape both the universe and the human heart. In the present day, author Hannah Jarvis investigates a chapter in Lord Byron's life with precision and rigour.

As past and present intertwine, the play follows the meeting point of science, romance, curiosity and the search for lost knowledge, asking whether life can ever be fully understood or whether order and disorder are always close together.

Key facts: West End transfer from The Old Vic; opening at the Duke of York's Theatre from 20 June; strictly limited 12-week run.
