Arcadia at Duke of York's Theatre brings Sir Tom Stoppard’s play to the West End after its critically acclaimed run at The Old Vic. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, this production opens in a theatre that is being newly renovated into the round especially for the show.
Set in a country house two centuries apart, Arcadia follows teenage prodigy Thomasina Coverly in 1809 and present-day author Hannah Jarvis as they explore mathematics, nature, Lord Byron and the patterns that shape life. As past and present intertwine, the play looks at curiosity, lost knowledge, order and disorder, and the relationship between science and romance.
It runs for a strictly limited 12-week period from 20 June.
