About Wild About You

Wild About You at The Arches, London follows Billy on the day of his high school graduation party, when he discovers a trunk of letters written to him by his late mother. Having been told she abandoned him as a child, Billy sets out with his best friend Scoot to uncover the truth about his past and his connection to a woman he never knew.

The show uses songwriting that pays homage to the lyrical world of Joni Mitchell and Carole King, with melodies and harmonies drawing on the artists who followed them. Its score blends nouveau-folk, pop, country-pop and soul, creating a story-led musical style that supports the characters and the search at the heart of the piece.

With an ensemble of characters from all walks of life, the production centres on themes of identity, family and direction. The line “love is what we leave behind” appears in the source material and reflects the show’s focus on the lasting impact of personal connections.
