Franz & Marie at The Arches, London is a musical adaptation of Georg Büchner’s classic German tragedy Woyzeck. Set in the twisted world of late 19th-century European folklore, it follows Franz Woyzeck, a soldier stationed at an isolated outpost after action on the front line.

Haunted by nightmares and visions of fire in the sky, Franz is trying to hold on to the two people who matter most to him: his girlfriend Marie and their baby, Georgie. The production uses Indie Raw Folk and is described as a visceral journey into the heart of a good man broken by a bad world.

Originally commissioned two decades ago by the award-winning Korean company Acom and created by key members of The Singing Loins, this staging is reimagined with a 14-strong cast of actor-musicians.
