Join us for an informal gathering with the artists in this art exhibition explores the meaning of kinship and community.
Join us for a relaxed afternoon special with three of the artists behind Under a Groove: Ray Soko, Kwesi Awotwi and Sophia Oshodin.
This informal meet-and-greet offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their creative practices, inspirations and the ideas that shape the works featured in the exhibition. You will have the chance to engage in conversation, ask questions and gain deeper insight into the stories, themes and techniques behind the artworks on display.
Under a Groove takes its cue from the 1978 Funk classic One Nation Under a Groove and celebrates the rhythms, relationships and shared histories that shape our sense of community. It explores the vibrant interplay between individual expression and collective identity, with a playful nod to the friendly rivalries between Ghanaians and Nigerians.
Bringing together five distinctive voices, the exhibition explores how art can capture the energy of lived experience, memory, community and identity. Through painting, mixed media and visual storytelling, the artists invite viewers to reflect on the meaning of kinship and belonging.
Whether you are a seasoned collector, an art enthusiast or simply curious to learn more about contemporary art, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the artists and experience the exhibition in a more personal and engaging way.
We look forward to welcoming you to an afternoon of conversation, discovery and celebration.
