About My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?)
My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is at Shaftesbury Ave, Soho, London W1D 7EZ, and tells Rob Madge’s autobiographical story of trying to stage a full Disney parade in their home for their Grandma when they were twelve. The show revisits that childhood performance, with Rob playing Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse and Belle while the family attempts to keep the parade on track.
Created by West End Musical Theatre star and social-media sensation Rob Madge, this is a clear, personal account of a family celebration that did not quite go as planned. Dad took on the roles of Stage Manager, Sound Technician and Goofy, Mum mistook Aladdin for Ursula, and the costumes went awry, although Grandma had a nice time.
The show was awarded Best Off-West End Production 2022 by WhatsOnStage.
