The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at Soho Place is a new musical based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. It follows a boy who wants to build a windmill and produce power for his family and village, even when nobody believes he can.
Set against drought and hardship on his family’s farm, the story centres on William, a few library books and scraps of old machinery. The production is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film, and this world premiere is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
The show is described as a bold and uplifting musical about hope, invention and determination.
Key facts: Age recommendation 9+. Runs 26th April - 18th July.
