About

About The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at sohoplace is a new musical based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. It follows William as he tries to build a windmill for his family’s farm and village, using library books and scraps of old machinery while drought and doubt close in around him.

This world premiere is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.

The production is described as bold and uplifting, and its story centres on invention, determination and the search for hope when circumstances are difficult.
