The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind at 4 Soho Place is a new musical based on the true story of William Kamkwamba. William wants to build a windmill, but when drought closes in on his family’s farm and the village he loves, he has little more than library books and scraps of old machinery to work with.
This world premiere is based on William Kamkwamba’s memoir and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film. It is directed by Lynette Linton, with book and lyrics by Richy Hughes and music and lyrics by Tim Sutton.
The story follows William as he tries to defy expectations and create something that can bring power and hope to his community.
