Love gets weird at Fringe Flicks.
On Friday 25 September, we're bringing 13 strange short films about warped romance, awkward desire, tenderness, obsession and emotional misfires to DoES Liverpool.
Across live action, animation, stop motion and experimental film, expect impossible honesty, peculiar attractions, strange creatures, complicated relationships and a man who falls hopelessly in love with a pineapple. The programme moves through dark comedy, surrealism and off-kilter romance, with love appearing in forms that are funny, unsettling and unexpectedly moving.
It's a film night, but not a formal one.
A Love Is Strange playlist curated by Esa Shields will run before the films, during the interval and afterwards. There'll also be an Audience Choice vote, a raffle for fabulous prizes, alternative film posters and zines to browse, and time to hang out after the screening.
Fringe Flicks is People Versus TV's underground community film night: serious about strange independent cinema without being formal about watching it. Whether you're a filmmaker, a massive film nerd or just looking for something unusual to do on a Friday night, you're welcome.
