Seven Jazz Leeds

Seven Jazz is a community jazz organisation, based at Seven Arts Centre, Chapel Allerton in Leeds. The centre opened at 7pm on 7 7 07, and Seven Jazz put on its first gig (The Billy Buckley trio) in September 2007. In a short space of time Seven Jazz has achieved the status of one of the three largest jazz clubs in Yorkshire (with Sheffield and Wakefield) and national recognition as a place to play and see jazz. Seven Jazz now has a large regular and enthusiastic following. Seven Jazz is part of Seven Arts Centre, a community arts venue started in 2007 by three local women - Pat Hunter, Penny Sanders and Anne Skevington. Steve Crocker, who had previously run jazz at the Leadmill in Sheffield, set up Seven Jazz to promote quality and accessible jazz to audiences from Yorkshire and around the UK. The club gets funding support from Jazz Yorkshire and PRS. It now offers 15 international concerts per year, plus 45 local and regional gigs and around 30 educational workshops and masterclasses for people of all ages and musical abilities. Seven Jazz is an intimate club atmosphere with musicians developing close links with the audience. The acoustics, piano, and sound system are first rate. Seven Arts restaurant and bar serve fantastic food and drink before and during every gig. Come and join us!
