As someone new to the group, I was disappointed that one of the hosts didn’t bother to take the time to introduce me to anyone, leaving me feeling less than welcome in a crowd full of strangers.

I had thought that the event was supposed to be for people to meet each other but the music was so loud that it was impossible to talk to the person next to you. This includes being able to play the icebreaker game, which were on the whole somewhat boring questions, so my table just gave up on it altogether.

Why not make something a bit more interactive which encourages people to move around and chat to each other. How about creating things which go together, getting a match and entering both cards for a small prize. For example, two piles of cards, one for males, one for females. The man has to find the lady who has a “Fork” to go with his “Knife”. When that’s complete, they each pull another card to find a match. And keep the background music low!!

Had a really good night. Didn't know anyone, went alone, but everyone was lovely, lots of people in the same boat. Made some friends, got drunk, did some dancing, then got a taxi home.
