The Weight of the Light, by Joe Kiney Whitmore, brings together visual art, monologue, poetry and painting in a single, immersive act. The piece draws on Whitmore's own experience of identity, addiction, recovery and spirituality, using performance as the primary vehicle for narrative and emotional truth.
Whitmore is a full-time visual artist whose practice spans large-scale oil painting, writing and live performance. His work is rooted in lived experience and embodied expression, extending the tradition of figurative painting into text-based and durational forms.
