Tengu presents: Sonic Explorations with Bloop Groop

About

We return this July 25th with our Sonic Explorations night!

This time inviting Community & workshop-focused crew, Bloop Groop to curate a string of live performers to play within SCARLET's 'The Drape' install on the night!

These nights are super special and allow the spaces dance flow & energy to be re-defined, don't miss it & see you in the dance.

Having developed a love for techno at some of Dublin's first techno clubs and free party scene. Gint began producing electronic music using an amiga computer and a demo program from a floppy disc on a magazine. By the late 90's he'd collected enough hardware to become the live resident with Liberation promotions which led to him playing alongside such techno legends as Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Rolando, The Advent, and CJ Bolland to name a few. During that time he played regularly throughout Ireland and internationally, including Frankfurts renowned Robert Johnson club. He has been playing live techno for over 3 decades to deliver sets that blend hard, driving rhythms with funky grooves.

Katie Laffan is a genre-agnostic electronic artist whose live sets are shaped by instinct, experimentation, and a love of machines. Drawing from techno, noise, and recent inspiration from Brazilian funk, her performances remain open-ended and unpredictable. Armed with only a Digitone and an Octatrack, she lets the equipment lead the conversation.

Greg is a multidisciplinary techno artist based in Dublin with over 20 years of dedicated commitment to the scene. Since 1998, Greg Oleksevic has been a prominent figure on the techno circuit, renowned not only for his DJ sets and live performances but also for organising events and collaborating with numerous techno collectives. Greg’s techno sets combine raw, hypnotic energy with dark textures and atmospheric sounds.

Mav (she/her) is a DJ, producer and live techno performer based in Dublin; she started spinning tunes in the early 2000s and eventually found her habitat in the alternative clubbing scene where she could simultaneously explore her gender and evolve her sound. She sits on the dark/industrial side of the techno landscape.

Coming from rock/metal roots, she approached electronic music from an alternative angle. The exploration of industrial, dark, goth, EBM, aggrotech, has broadened her views and heavily influenced her taste and creativity. She loves strong four on the floor beats and aggressive, hypnotic grooves, minimal melodies and deadpan vocals. Her sound sets the perfect tone for an intense and intimate journey.

A selection of some seriously experienced artists!
