The Decades of House

THE DECADES OF HOUSE

Saturday 17th October | 4PM – Midnight
The Curious Cat, Grimsby
Tickets £12

The Decades of House is a celebration of over 40 years of house music and the clubs, DJs, records and people that have shaped the scene in Grimsby and Cleethorpes across four incredible decades.

From the early days of CUSTOMS and THE FLAM, through the unforgettable eras of THE WATERFRONT, CHAMBERS, FUSED, SWISH and SOULYRICAL, generations of local clubbers have shared dancefloors, friendships and countless memories — all connected by a love of house music.

The Decades of House brings that story together for one special day.

OVER 40 YEARS OF HOUSE MUSIC

This isn't simply a retro night or an evening of obvious classics.

Musically, we'll be travelling through over four decades of house music, celebrating the different sounds and eras that have filled dancefloors from the beginnings of the scene right through to the present day.

Expect everything from early house and underground club records through to classic, soulful, deep and uplifting house — alongside forgotten gems and tracks you may not have heard on a dancefloor for years.

It's a musical journey through the records that defined different moments in our lives.

CELEBRATING OUR LOCAL CLUBBING HERITAGE

Grimsby and Cleethorpes have a house music history that stretches back decades, and The Decades of House is very much a celebration of that heritage.

CUSTOMS
THE FLAM
THE WATERFRONT
CHAMBERS
FUSED
SWISH
SOULYRICAL

Different venues. Different generations. Different eras of house music.

But for so many of us, the same friendships, faces and passion for the music have continued throughout them all.

Those names represent countless nights out, packed dancefloors, resident DJs, guest DJs, new records being discovered and memories that have stayed with people ever since.

The Decades of House is about bringing all of those generations back together under one roof.

THE DJs

For this event we're joined by special guest MARSHALL, whose history includes two hugely influential names in UK club culture — The Hacienda and Up Yer Ronson in Leeds.

Alongside Marshall:

DEAN BAKER
MILO
ANDY MOODY
KARL MUMBY

DJs with decades of experience between them and, importantly, a genuine connection with the music and the scene we're celebrating.

This isn't about simply playing the biggest records. Each DJ will be digging into the music from across the decades to create a proper journey from the moment the doors open until the final record of the night.

THE CURIOUS CAT

Our home for this edition of The Decades of House is The Curious Cat in Grimsby.

We'll be creating a proper dancefloor environment downstairs, removing much of the usual seating to give everyone plenty of room to dance and bringing in a crisp, quality sound system so the music sounds exactly as it should.

Upstairs, there'll be a chill-out lounge where you can grab a drink, sit down, catch up with friends and take a break before heading back downstairs.

With the event running from 4PM until midnight, it's about capturing that daytime-into-evening atmosphere we love.

MORE THAN JUST AN EVENT

The Decades of House is ultimately about music, memories and people.

Some of the faces on the dancefloor have known each other since those early clubbing days. Others discovered house music through a completely different generation.

That's exactly what we want this event to represent.

Whether your memories are of Customs or The Flam, The Waterfront or Chambers, Fused, Swish or Soulyrical — or you've simply developed a love for house music somewhere along the way — this is a chance to come together and celebrate it.

Old friends. New faces. Forgotten records. Timeless records. And hopefully a few moments where a tune comes through the speakers and instantly takes you back somewhere.

Over 40 years of house music.
Five DJs.
Eight hours.
One dancefloor.
Four decades of memories.
