Merrowfolk launch their album at the Rum Shack followed by an afterparty to dance the night away with the band featuring Minerva Wakes, Clegs and much more. Support to be announced.
Merrowfolk are a 7 piece from Glasgow gathered around Irish singer-songwriter Mima Merrow's unique blend of alternative folk characterised by longing, sudden changes in direction, and melodies that ache to life.
Merrowfolk launch their debut album as a band which is a place spacious enough to hold anger, love, longing and fun. Those attending their recent shows at festivals in Scotland and Ireland including Stendhal, Doune the Rabit Hole and Knockengorroch describe the music as:
'It's beguiling singer-songwriter melodies woven through anarchic folk-horror.'
'It's giving witches wailing in the forest in the most complimentary way.'
'I'd describe it as film-noir jazz sabbath.'
'A comforting hand in the darkness guiding you through a fragrant forest littered with broken glass.'
