INSIDE OUT | Paddy Hill

After an amazing first show here earlier this month and it’s debut at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, McChuill’s is proud to be once again hosting Paddy Hill: Inside Out, a powerful new monologue starring Conor McClean in title role as the most vociferous member of The Birmingham Six.

In 1974, with 'The Troubles' escalating in Northern Ireland, two bombs explode in Birmingham - the biggest mass murder the UK had ever seen. Six Irishmen are given 21 life sentences and left to die in prison as the most despised convicts in history. It would take superhuman strength and indomitable courage for them to prove their innocence.
They found it in a diminutive giant called Paddy Joe Hill.

Written by Paddy and playwright Martin Lloyd Withers, Paddy Hill: Inside Out lifts the lid on not just what really happened that fateful night, but also the devastation wrought since. For despite the sterling efforts of the most eminent psychiatrists in Harley Street, Paddy never did receive successful treatment for his extensive PTSD. Yet Paddy Hill: Inside Out delves deeper to find that the only real cure for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder comes from the inside out, never from outside input.
The show's Creative Director Martin Lloyd Withers says, "Paddy Hill spent half a century being famous for something he didn't do. This play brings into focus all the amazing things he DID do."
