About

A rare chance to see klezmer and radical Jewish culture taken in all different directions on one evening, from punk to trad to techno. Not to be missed!

Instead of playing distinct sets, we're (probably) going to be mixing and matching, collaborating and contrasting, in ways we can't quite predict. We hope to make it an inspiring and unique evening.

...

OCH VEY take the traditional folk music of Eastern European Jews and fuse it with a punchy backline. Our gigs promise a generous dose of high octane, dance inducing, punk infused klezmer music. Expect soaring clarinet solos, wailing fiddle, crunchy guitar, pounding drums, arresting accordion, and a large quantity of bass.

..

CHAIA is a composer combining Yiddish archival practice and electronic club music. She weaves archival Yiddish audio with techno and ambient frameworks, creating hybrid folk-electronic compositions that situate ancestral sound within global and liberatory rave culture. In live performance, she brings together accordion, vocals, and samples, inviting audiences to engage with ritual and the echoes of ancestral memory.

...

MICHAEL ALPERT is a trailblazing klezmer musician and Yiddish singer, multi-instrumentalist and educator. As a pioneer in the revival of modern klezmer, he's featured on countless albums and inspired musicians all over the world. It's not an exaggeration to say that modern klezmer wouldn't be the same without him.
