A special immersive night of music to take you away from the Hustle and Bustle of the fringe, and get you moving. With Live visuals and two fantastic bands.
Gnawa Trance Fusion- is a Scotland-based music project led by Moroccan-born musician Omar Afif since 2014. The band blends the spiritual, trance-inducing rhythms of traditional Gnawa music whose sound bridges traditional Gnawa music with Afro-funk, blues, jazz, electronic, psychedelic, and even Scottish folk. Centred around the deep, resonant sound of the guembri, their performances combine intricate rhythms and call-and-response vocals to create a powerful, immersive live experience.
Sonic Nomads-A boundary-blurring trio with Alec Cooper on sitar, Ram Tajam on banjo, and Andy Cooke on percussion, Ugandan harp and thumbpiano, our group weaves the intricate melodies of Indian classical music with the rich, percussive heartbeat of Ugandan rhythms. Sitar and banjo lines glide over polyrhythmic drumming, inviting our audiences to get up and dance or lay back and fly away. The result is a deeply textured, immersive experience-one that bridges continents, celebrates heritage, and reimagines what global fusion can sound like.
