“Chris Amer and Juliette Lemoine combine forces on their first recording together, bringing great skill and sensitivity to their music-making. Together, they create a sonorous blend that is rich and warm, moving fluidly from meditative passages to moments of fiery intensity.” Mike Vass
Juliette Lemoine (cello) and Chris Amer (tenor guitar) are two exceptional and accomplished new voices on the Scottish music scene. Having spent years playing together, their performances have developed the quality of an immersive dialogue characterised by rich emotional colour, close interaction and vibrant spontaneity. 2026 sees the release of One Day I Climbed The Hill, their first recorded release as a duo. Taking its name from an ancient melody in the Patrick MacDonald Collection, the EP showcases the pair exploring original and traditional music with their characteristic originality, depth and energy.
Juliette Lemoine’s debut album ‘Soaring’ launched with a sold-out headline show at Celtic Connections (2023), and was later long-listed for the Scottish Album of the Year award (2023). An innovator of cello in traditional music, Juliette continues to explore the possibilities of her instrument in a varied schedule of cross-genre performing and recording. She has toured her own music nationwide and is a regular collaborator with artists across the Scottish scene, recently performing as part of acclaimed trio Swinging On Birches.
Chris Amer’s distinctive sound and unique playing style have led to his being widely sought after across the Scottish jazz and folk scenes. The designer and pioneer of a unique 7-string theorbed tenor guitar built by Taran Guitars (Fife), he launched his debut album ‘Making Peace With What Is’ at a sold-out Celtic Connections show at The Drygate in January 2026. He has since presented his music at the St Magnus Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival and The Soundhouse WinterFestival, as well as touring regularly with Matt Carmichael and the Danny-Kyle Award-winning band ‘Tern’.
Juliette and Chris are releasing One Day I Climbed The Hill with a UK tour in Autumn 2026. Their recent live highlights include their headline performance at Celtic Connections (2024), performing at London Jazz Festival (2024), and supporting folk supergroup LAU at Kings Place, London(2024).
