Lou Terry is a musician, genre-mangler and activist who fuses strange technology with timeless songwriting. After his 2023 EP Warmly, Alexandria charted at 22 in physical sales, he released his debut album, Building a Case. He has supported the likes of Black Country, New Road, Richard Dawson, Porridge Radio, Ora Coga, Mary and the Junkyard, Jeffrey Lewis and Califone, and has played festivals including Bestival, Left of the Dial and Three Wheel Drive.
Through quirky vocals and meticulously crafted folk soundscapes, Lou's music paints a picture of the people, events, feelings, doubts and misgivings of everyday life, guiding the listener through episodic stories with heart on the sleeve honesty and poignant, political lyricism, nodding to personal experiences like getting evicted from his home, the repressed ecstasies of romance, or getting sacked from JD Sports, often finding beauty in the mundane.
His music has received support from John Cooper Clarke, Tom Robinson, Matt Wilkinson, Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, Wonderland, So Young, DIY Mag, Line of Best Fit, Dazed, Loud and Quiet, NTS Radio, The Most Radicalist, Hard of Hearing, Far Out Mag, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, Radio X, New York Village Radio, International Times and BBC Introducing.
