Review of Rosalie Cunningham

Second time I've seen Rosalie and second time I've been to The Louisiana (previously I saw Amplifier there).
First the venue. It's small (about half the size of Fuel in Cardiff of you know that) not great ventilation but if you want to catch bands who someday may be mega stars (I'm thinking here of the undated framed poster they have in the bar of the £7 tick*ts for Florence and the Machine) it's brilliant. Intimate, atmospheric and a great music venue.
Having mentioned FatM, Rosalie is a prog rock version of her.
Musically very early 70s - in a brilliant way - lyrically she's deep, poetic, intelligent. Vocally she is astounding and interesting.
She's in my top five favourite female vocalists alongside Ann Wilson, Kate Miller - Heidke, Joanna Newsom & Lzzy Hale

Rosalie Cunningham and her band as ever put on a stunning show, with their melodic, rocking psychedelia-tinged compositions.  It always amazes me that they are not playing to larger audiences on larger stages that would better showcase their captivating stagecraft.  This brings me on to why the venue only gets three rather than five stars - it's just too small and cramped, with a pretty much non-existent stage.  When full (as for this show), this does feed into the atmosphere, but hampers audience views and must make it difficult for the band due to the restricted space (plus it gets really hot!!!).  That said, I have seen some great bands here over the years and do value it as a long-term Bristol live music institution.

Great live band Rosalie has an amazing voice with a great band. I like the Louisiana but it got pretty hot in the in the current hot weather

Rosalieâs got it all going for her, in another country sheâd be rightly huge. She has a great band and down to earth banter
