Adam Hopper & The Wimps + The Stanford Family Band
Music Genres
Pop | Acoustic | Alternative | Indie Pop
Thank goodness for the roads and rails of this country which make is feasible and possible for Adam Hopper & The Wimps to travel to our coastal town, and bless us with their toffee-drenched pop.
Releasing their self titled debut LP with the reputable Bingo Records (Bug Club, Mr Ben & the Bens, Good News) Adam demonstrates that quality 21st century pop doesn't need fancy gadgets, audacious gimmicks or social media stunts to be entertaining. That the old tools: melodies, stories, charisma, fun; they can still be used to carve brand new sculptures. It has been described as grounded-folk, Go-Betweens-esque jangle pop, and Americana-inflected. All relevant terms, but none which capture the fullness, warmth and entity of Adam Hopper's music. You'll have to come and listen.
Joining them are The Stanford Family band; kindred spirits in pop-excellence. Brighton's own released 'Go Again' back in the summer, and for a group who are proud in showing their inspirations like a t-shirtless geezer getting his chest out on a sunny day; all their songs are distinctively their own. Each song contains multitudes, an intricate weaving together of harmonies, organs, good times, guitars, reflection. It's all in there, and it's all delightful.
