Foot Foot

foot foot are Esther Pollock (vocals, guitar), Llyr Cox (drums), Ethan Poole (bass), Amelia Gilmartin (violin) and Evo Ethel (sax, woodwind).

Formed in the summer of 2021, foot foot were initially a folk duo, later joined by Esther's older brother (Jesse Pollock) and Llyr for their first 'proper' show at Dot2Dot, later recruiting saxophonist Evo Ethel (Ex Agent) and violinist Amelia Gilmartin.

Since then, foot foot have established themselves as one of the leading acts of Bristol's underground, drawing on the traditions of folk, math-rock, and discordant post-rock to produce their intricate brand of songcraft, creating moments of serenity and stillness before launching into fast, jagged rhythms. Their use of contrasts - indie-flecked songwriting with irregular, winding passages, or rich violin and vocal melodies with avante-jazz freakouts - have marked them out as one of the scene's most innovative and impactful live acts.

They have earned themselves support slots alongside artists such as Deerhoof, Horse Jumper of Love, The Bug Club, Leatherhead and Quade to name a few, and on the lineups of many indie festivals (Simple Things, Ritual Union, Outer Town, Dot2Dot, etc).

Their debut album "still waters, empty house," recorded over 7 days in the basement of iconic music venue The Louisiana, produced by Jack Ogbourne (Bingo Fury, The Cindys) was released in February 2025 to critical acclaim. The album consists of 7 songs that seek to encapsulate the process of discovering one's own unique voice. A breakup album at heart, foot foot navigates themes of isolation, unrequited love, and human nature with lyrics that blossom and wilt upon a terrain of distorted guitars, lush violin, fragile vocals and whiplash inducing time signatures.
