Friday 19th June | The Night Owl
For our next Friday session, we’re teaming up with one of the UK’s most important music organisations.
For over 35 years, Tomorrow’s Warriors has been at the forefront of UK jazz, helping shape the careers of artists including Ezra Collective, Moses Boyd, Nubya Garcia, Soweto Kinch and many more.
Now they’re bringing one of their most exciting emerging artists to Birmingham.
Saxophonist David Kayode blends Yoruba tradition, carnival energy and contemporary jazz into a sound that moves bodies and tells stories.
A Tomorrow’s Warriors Emerging Artist, David has already performed with the Gary Crosby Sextet, toured internationally with Moses Boyd, and collaborated with artists including Ni Maxine and Osibisa.
Following the release of his debut EP Ade Kayode, his music has received support from Jazz FM, BBC Radio 3 and One Jazz, with Soweto Kinch describing him as:
“An emerging artist developing a really distinctive sound infused with Afrobeat and straight ahead jazz.”
Expect a powerful live set from one of the most exciting names emerging from the UK jazz scene.
And because it wouldn’t be NBHD without it…
