Supersonic Festival presents

About

Supersonic are delighted to welcome Sara Parkman to the Castle & Falcon in January 2027, in collaboration with our good friends at Kikimora Records. She’ll be joined by the wonderful Georgian folk choir Ensemble Bednieri for what promises to be a very special evening.
Sara Parkman is a Swedish folk musician who has redefined the genre by blending tradition with bold innovation. With a career spanning over 15 years, she has won a Swedish Grammy, earned multiple awards, and built a reputation as a groundbreaking artist. Her music moves effortlessly between the sacred and the raw, the homestead and the nightclub. Beyond being a violinist, singer, and composer, she is a cultural force who challenges and reshapes folk music’s boundaries. Always evolving, Parkman continues to push artistic and emotional depths with every project she takes on. We had the pleasure of hosting Sara’s collaborative project with Maria W. Horn -Funeral Folk, at Supersonic Festival 2025, so it’s great to welcome Sara back, this time in her solo capacity.
Ensemble Bednieri is a Birmingham based choir singing polyphonic folk music from Georgia; a small country on the eastern edge of the Black Sea, nestled between the snowy Caucus mountains in the north the arid Turkish lands in the south. Spanning numerous regional styles and vocal techniques from across Georgia, we will share an uplifting and sonorous mix; from harvesting and feasting songs to pagan healing songs and medieval chants; from the lyrical lovers singing on the hillside of Adjara to the philosophical musings of a shepherd in the Tushetian mountains. Ensemble Bednieri is led by Eb Jordan, a musician dedicated to cultural appreciation and ethnographically informed practice. Eb has studied with a wide variety of Georgian folk specialist both in the UK and Georgia for over eight years and also takes inspiration from Frank Kane’s approach of vibrational sharing and voice placement within the work.
“The meaning of ‘Bednieri’ is fateful, joyful and happy. This sums up our vibe; it’s the feeling we get when we sing these ancient songs and share them with the world.”
