Persepolis is the autobiographical coming-of-age animated film, based on the graphic novel of the same name, by the late Marjane Satrapi. Insightful, witty and highly imaginative the film won the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.

The film follows the life of a young out-spoken girl named Marjane growing up amidst the Iranian Revolution. Marjane gets in trouble at school, buys heavy metal records on the black market and listens in on her parents political debates before being sent to Europe in her 20s for higher education.
