Malah Palinka + Eddy Luna + AKASHA - Neo Soul, Funk, and Jazz!

Love Neo Soul? Love brassy grooves? Love modern jazz? WE'VE GOT THE NIGHT FOR YOU!!

Birmingham's Bull's Head in Moseley are bringing together three funktastic acts for a night of tight soul grooves, amazing vocal performances, and instrumental goodness.

Malah Palinka

Malah Palinka are an absolutely bonkers collective of virtuosic musicians, bringing together a snappy 4-piece brass section, infectious funk grooves, and dreamlike lyrics. Drawing inspiration from funk, jazz, soul, hip-hop, and pop, they are an arrangement-heavy band that blend tight songwriting with captivating grooves.

Formed in Sheffield, their energetic live shows are designed to get people moving and grooving along to their brassy hooks and catchy choruses. Known for throwing in reharmonised takes on pop anthem classics (Childish Gambino, Cascada, Britney Spears, Beyoncé), their performances keep people guessing and on their toes.

Eddy Luna

Further proof of the wealth of musical talent emanating from outside of the M25, Eddy Luna is a gifted singer-songwriter matching raw, introspective lyrics about relationships and mental health with neo-soul and jazz-indebted production. Hailing from Dudley in the West Midlands, she draws from all corners and eras of music to form something completely unique and compelling.

Blessed with the same open-minded, curious nature, her own sound mirrors this — a cross-pollination of influences and styles, blending everything from the lush instrumentation of Flower Boy-era Tyler, the Creator, to the accomplished musicality of Hiatus Kaiyote. Going deep on relationships and mental health issues in her lyrics, Eddy Luna describes debut project as a “taster of life experiences that not only I’ve had, I think everyone on the planet has.”

AKASHA

Birmingham-based groove & soul outfit AKASHA combine a smooth rhythm section, lush female vocals, and great instrumental hooks.
