James Adrian Brown is the former lead guitarist of the alternative rock band Pulled Apart By Horses. After achieving chart success, touring the world, and releasing four critically acclaimed studio albums with PABH, James has begun paving a new path in instrumental electronic music and composition.
Brown's solo work is heavily electronica-based, utilising analogue synths alongside tape machines, piano, strings, and immersive ambient atmospherics. His focus lies in the analogue process of capturing and creating sound using physical hardware.
He has received support from the likes of Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music and Chris Hawkins, who championed him for creating "massive electronic soundscapes in a Mogwai kind of world." James has also been regularly featured on BBC Radio 3's Unclassified by host Elizabeth Alker.
Taking inspiration from artists such as Boards of Canada, Rival Consoles and Thom Yorke, Brown is exploring, evolving, and pushing his songwriting into bold new sonic territories. His debut album Forever Neon Lights is out now on the revered electronic label Castles In Space, marking a significant new chapter in his journey as a solo artist.

There's no rush in Field Lines Cartographer's world, no hurried resolutions or hasty developments, in fact Mark Burford has been meticulously crafting an impeccable body of work that revels in gradual imperceptible shifts and slow-burning realisations for some years now.
From the chimeric 'Dreamtides' and the high-density 'Apeiron Anxiety' albums for Castles In Space, rich with atmospheric intensity and nebulous melodic turns, to the insectile mystery and skittering echoic arpeggios of 'Formic Kingdom' for Woodford Halse, or the stunning 'Tone Maps' for the Quiet Details imprint, Burford's music is intensely emotive and unfathomably deep.
While the textural detail inherent in all of FLC's work carries through to his jaw-dropping live show, the performance is mostly stripped back to a couple of hardware synthesisers, effortlessly mixing analogue and digital in a masterclass of restraint and balance, earning him much-lauded repeat appearances at Levitation festival, a spot at DiN's Tone Science live show at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool and performances at the G Livelab in Helsinki and the famous Whelans in Dublin. Field Lines Cartographer's work, both recorded and live is enduringly immersive and undeniably skilled, perfectly toeing the line between trickling ambient vignettes and immovable walls of sound, often both at the same time.
