The Wickerman Festival 2009 lineup sees The Human League and The Zutons top the bill at Scotland’s friendliest music festival.

Friday nights headliners are Sheffield synth-pop pioneers The Human League are best known for their multi-million selling sing-a-long singles “Don’t You Want Me, Love Action, Mirror Man and Keep Feeling Fascination.” Playing on the Friday, The Electro Legends are sure to be in a league of their own!

Headlining Saturday night at The Wickerman are Indie rockers The Zutons. The former Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominees are recognised as “Liverpool’s first great band of the 21st Century.” Their album 'Who Killed The Zutons' originally made it to #13 in the UK charts, though it was their second studio album that really helped put them in the limelight, with one of their most noticeable tracks 'Valerie' covered by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse.

In addition to the headline acts the Wicker audience can look forward to an extremely eclectic billing.

This includes an exclusive Scottish festival performance from folk maverick Billy Bragg, a techno reggae set by festival favourites Dreadzone and old skool ska and punk from the UK Subs and Penetration.

Also appearing in this first announcement from the festival team are Jamaican reggae Grammy Award winners Zion Train.

Other attractions planned for the 2009 shindig are a comedy tent featuring Phil Kay, a 24 hour Burnsathon, festival golf, mountain biking, kilts and camouflage fancy dress theme and the ceremonial torching of a giant Wickerman structure.

Famously friendly is the tag line for the 8th Wickerman Festival making reference to its laid-back family orientated audience.

Festival co-ordinator Helen Chalmers said “The festival team hope everyone will be as delighted with the first announcement as we are and we promise that there is much more to come with over 100 acts still to be announced.”

The Wickerman Festival takes place at East Kirkcarswell Farm near Kirkcudbright in the South West of Scotland on the 24th and 25th July.

Tickets are priced at £80 online (including booking fee, camping and parking) with children 12 and under being admitted free. Buying your tickets online is the cheapest and quickest way to purchase a ticket!
