The more observant amongst you may have noticed that there's some sort of weddingy event happening this weekend.
While half of the country is digging out their Union Jack bunting and preparing to party like it's 1981, many amongst us would rather avoid any references to the wedding altogether, and enjoy the extended Bank Holiday weekend in our own way.

Sankeys Weekender, Manchester
Sankeys celebrates another lovely long bank holiday weekend with three huge events headlined by Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke and Jamie Jones. Kicking things off on Thursday night, electro-pop prince and remixer extraordinaire Calvin Harris will be rocking the dancefloor of Sankeys hallowed basement with support from Ellesse. The fun continues on the Friday night with Laidbcak Luke and Bora Bora's Oliver lang, while rounding things off in style on Sunday will be Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Richie Ahmed in a Hot Natured showcase. Laidback Luke @ Club Mission, Leeds
As part of string of UK dates this month, Luke will appear at Leeds’ Club Mission this Thursday, with support from Josh Demello, Jamie Hartley and more. The Dutch DJ, producer and all round wunderkid has risen to the highs of international superstar status over the past few years, with production highlights including collaborating with Steve Angello on club tracks like 'Be' to commercial tracks like the massive Robin S vocalled 'Show Me Love', teaming up with the Swedish House Mafia on the Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso & Steve Angello club anthem 'Leave The World Behind' and, more recently, working with Robyn on the single 'Indestructible'. on Friday 29th April Content welcomes dance music royalty Andrew Weatherall to its intimate bricked basement home at Manchester’s Joshua Brooks. Despite being known as one of the most eclectic DJs around, it's his genre defining techno sets that are arguably the most famous. As a producer and DJ he maintained a prolific career spanning 20+ years, taking in sets at the world’s greatest clubs and knocking out some mind bending music. Salford's only new music festival has expanded this year, with 78 acts taking over 13 stages in Salford for one day of bands, DJs, art, spoken word and good times. Acts this year includes the NME’s favourite trancers D/R/U/G/S, indie Darren Hayman, Swedish popstrelles Those Dancing Days as well as The Wave Pictures, the Twilight Sad, Rainbow Arabia, spoken word from Aidan Moffat and 70 more acts! After an amazing first event, Problem Child returns to The Ritz with a formidable line up headlined by quite possibly the hottest artist in the world right now, Mr James Blake. He has plenty of new dancefloor material in the works so expect to hear it here first. As this is also the OutLook Festival Launch party, Problem Child have also lined-up one of the world's premier soundsystems, the legendary MUNGO's Hi-Fi; veterans of countless DMZ's, SUB:DUBs, Festivals and more. The Masque 10th Birthday, Liverpool
Iconic Liverpool club The Masque celebrates 10 years at the forefront of the city’s clubbing community on May 1st, with a huge 10th anniversary celebration headlined by Calvin Harris.
