*** Circus Boxing Day Party, Liverpool ***

Circus signs off 2006 with an all out house and techno session that heralds one of the most exciting dates yet. After November’s brilliant party in the traditionally toughest month of the year, rounding off this massive and instrumental year for the Liverpool institution gives some indication of how Circus will proceed through 2007. Already one of the top nights in the UK, Yousef’s infectious and rampant party continues to draw the world’s top performers and a fantastically loyal crowd who flock to see them.

Making his Circus debut is Derrick May, whose career started way back in 1987 with the release of a record called "Nude Photo" which helped kickstart the Detroit techno music scene. A year later he was following it with what was to become one of house music's classic anthems, the seminal "Strings of Life," more recently remixed by Danny Krivit to great effect. May is one half of the Cosmic Twins with that other Liverpool fave Francois K and his reputation is unprecendented. Expect deep and sublime techno from the man who fashioned the scene itself.
Yousef’s finishing off the year in great style with his latest CR2 release coming out on Dec 8th with awesome reviews already from across the board of house and techno. His Carl Cox remix is currently gaining pressure from Coxy and beyond and Yos has been in the studio this week with world renowned pop producer Mike Cave producing a new single, a vocal effort, "My Own Best Myself" and another other track "Guit Guit" is getting signed off to a world know label this week. As ever Yousef likes to keep himself busy!
Circus brings Digitalism to the party whose pure and simple dirty electro pogo shit is hammered out by the two studio junkies Jens "Jence" Moelle and Ismail "Isi" Tuefekci, coming directly from the underground electro-indie scene. Their track “Idealistic” was hammered by Soulwax, Tiga, Westbam, Kid Alex, Jojo De Freq, Tom Neville, Rob Mello (Classic), Boris Dlugosch, Moonbootica, Satoshi Tomiie, Martini Brös, Marc Roberts (Bugged Out), Eric D. Clark, Zdar, Touché (Culture club), Pete Tong, Cajuan and many others and their talent for rocking parties is unsurpassed.

Woolly makes a welcome return to Circus after a summer as Space’s terrace resident in Ibiza. With an approach and attitude that is slightly different to most, Paul Woolford has established himself as one of the most original DJs, producers and remixers that house music has exposed in recent times. Incredibly versatile and talented, Paul is respected as much for what he does behind the decks as in the studio. A good friend on Yousef’s, Circus brings the man back to Liverpool for a dose of tech-edge house and blistering bass.

Another Ibizian legend graces Liverpool for Boxing Day. Smokin’ Jo is one of the world’s top female DJs and one half of the NastyDirtySexMusic vibes she produced with Tim Sheridan. This in turn led to Nude, Jo’s own party which took the Ministry of Sound by storm. Jo’s international credibility has led her to work alongside numerous celebrities, DJing at The Pet Shop Boys end of tour party, Grace Jones concert, Skunk Anansie’s album launch party, Jamiroquai’s South African tour parties, as well as fashion events like Alexander McQueen, Michiko Koshinos and Julian Macdonald after-show parties. Jo has graced Time Out, Moda, Mixmag, M8, DJ and IDJ as well as having features in The Sunday Times, The Independent and The Telegraph Magazine.

And the last very special guest is Ashley Beedle. Widely known as being one third of X-Press 2 and lesser known for happily slinging reggae, funk, rock, soul, disco and jazz on the metal platter as he is house music, Ashley versatility is immense and his productions have been championed by names as diverse as Danny Tenaglia to Fabio and Grooverider to Gilles Peterson and John Digweed. Through X Press 2 with Rocky and Diesel he explores the more conventional house sounds which has taken him to clubs all around the world but Ashley is equally at home playing crate-digging sets that unearth music gems of many varieties.
