V Festival is back…with a vengeance - an outstanding line up of the hottest live acts around right now! The ninth annual V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Mobile, returns to the picturesque green hills of Hylands Park, Chelmsford and the lake-lined open land of Weston Park, Staffordshire, on the weekend of 21st and 22nd August 2004. And as you can see from the list of the names above, festival organisers have pulled out all the stops with an eclectic line-up headed by The Strokes, Muse, Dido and The Pixies.
Yes you heard right, The Strokes, Muse Dido AND The Pixies will be ensuring you have on hell of a summer at this year’s V Festival. Having attracted rave reviews over the past year – not to mention numerous award nominations – all acts are undoubtedly at the top of their game! They, along with Kings of Leon, Massive Attack - who will be headlining the NME stage - N.E.R.D, Athlete, Pink, Primal Scream, Snow Patrol, Keane and Jamie Cullum, will provide the 130,000 plus revellers with a V Festival 2004 that veritably rocks!
And as part of V Festival’s commitment to supporting new acts and bringing new talent to the forefront there are a host of other great acts yet to be announced so watch this space!
Tickets go on sale at 9am on 20th March, and music lovers are advised to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment as last year’s tickets went in record time, with both sites selling out in just over two months.
Chelmsford Festival Director Bob Angus commented:
“In the coming months we plan to unveil a host of additional acts to the already really strong line up. These will include both established and up and coming talent. New acts are particularly important to us - you only have to look back at past V Festivals which featured the likes of Coldplay, Amy Winehouse and Jamie Cullum when they were relatively unknown, as evidence of our commitment to new talent.”
Weston Park Festival Director Simon Moran went on to state:
“We’ve got two fantastic sites, we’ve already secured thirteen top acts and festival lovers know that we put on a great show…I’m really confident that this year’s V Festival is going to be a great one.”
Virgin Mobile
Virgin Mobile will be the headline sponsor of the V Festival for the fifth consecutive year, one of the longest-standing music sponsorships in the business. They will be taking the hugely popular Virgin Mobile Red Light Club to both sites, for a feast of live music and entertainment in a genuine nightclub on site! Text The Fest and Foto the Fest will be returning to display festival-goers’ best gags, observations and declarations of love or lust, which last year received more than 30,000 messages! An army of Virgin Mobile Angels will be on hand to help festival-goers pitch their tents, find the stages, and find their way home after a big weekend of partying!
And if all this wasn’t enough, Virgin Mobile has pledged this year to give each of its customers at the V Festival a free beer and a kebab!
