New research from the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), alongside insights platform Obsurvant, shows that support for nightlife and hospitality is becoming a major priority ahead of upcoming elections. The findings highlight just how important late-night culture is to younger generations, not just as entertainment but as part of everyday life.

More than two-thirds of young people say stronger political support for nightlife would influence their vote, with that figure rising even higher among 18 to 34-year-olds. It’s a clear sign that the night time economy is no longer a niche issue, but something firmly on the radar for a generation that values live experiences and cultural connection.

Despite challenges around affordability, the appetite for nights out remains strong. From grassroots gigs to late-night dancefloors, demand for shared experiences is still very much alive, and young voters want to see that protected and supported.

The NTIA says this moment presents a real opportunity for policymakers to engage with a sector that plays a huge role in local communities. From creating jobs to shaping cultural identity, nightlife continues to be a vital part of towns and cities across the UK.

With decisions around transport, licensing and local infrastructure all feeding into the experience of a night out, the conversation is shifting towards how these spaces can thrive long-term. And with election campaigns heating up, nightlife is quickly becoming part of that wider discussion.
