Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan said he wants to set politicians on fire and would never let a member of the British Conservative party use his music in an election campaign.

The Kasabian frontman admits he would be horrified if the British Conservative political party approached his group and asked to use one of their songs in their election campaign.

He said: "They're f**king horrible. I'd set fire to them. I'd just set fire to the f**kers. I mean, they're just horrible. I would actually set fire to them. Every single one of them, one by one."

Despite their reluctance to get involved in politics, the rockers insist that people should still write politically motivated songs.

Tom added to NME magazine: "If you're into politics I'm all for it. Or if you wanna write a song about a girl you love, write about that. Or if you wanna write about f***ing taking acid, then do that. If doesn't matter as long as you actually know what you're going on about."

Tom's bandmate Serge Pizzorno also gave his advice for young bands, adding: "Tunes is all you need. It really is. It's not about aesthetics."
