The Electric Comedy Club May Press Release

Get ready for another fine selection of comedians at The Electric Theatre’s regular monthly comedy club on Sunday 12 May. The line-up includes Electric favourite Jonny Awsum, the hilarious John Pendal and Chortle Comedy Newcomer Nat Luurtsema. If that hasn’t already satisfied your comedy appetite we’ve also got West Country wisecrackers Tom Glover and Toby Brown.

We defy even the stoniest of faces not to crack when they hear Jonny Awsum’s confessional lament ‘White Lies’. Yes it’s about the white lies he tells his girlfriend, yes it is performed to the music of ‘Bright Eyes’ and yes it is probably one of the funniest laments you’ll ever hear. Racking up thousands of YouTube hits, the song is just one of Jonny’s many musical offerings. Expect a barrage of gags, one-liners and some bittersweet lyrics from one of Croydon’s rising stars. According to The Daily Star he is “cooler than a hypothermic Samuel L Jackson”.

The Electric Comedy Club is thrilled to welcome the hugely talented Nat Luurtsema. After many gigs and festivals Ms Luurtsema has become fluent in ‘sarcasm’, ‘puns’, and of course that difficult to master language … ‘heckle’! Expect energy, laughs and a little bit of mischief from the Russell Kane Live at The Electric regular. Taking a break from the hugely popular comedy sketch troupe Jigsaw (featuring Dan Antopolski and Tom Craine) Nat shares her unique take on life, including some hilarious insights from her novel ‘Cuckoos In The Nest’, a story about returning back home to live with mum and dad. The Guardian labels her as “disgustingly talented” and we couldn’t agree more.
