THE BLACKOUT : LIMITED EDITION CD SINGLE - SEPTEMBER 4TH 2006

‘HARD SLAMMIN’’ / ‘HIGH TIDE (ACOUSTIC VERSION)’ - fierce panda records (The Catalogue Number: NING 189CD

The Truth: THE BLACKOUT are six screamo warriors from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. They consist of Gavin Butler (vocals), Sean Smith (vocals), James Davies (guitar), Matthew Davies (guitar), Rhys Lewis (bass) and Gareth Lawrence (drums). ‘Hard Slammin’’ is their first ever release and follows the sort of hectic gig schedule and hyperactive myspace messaging which can make rock gods of smalltown kids.

Already in 2006 THE BLACKOUT’s battered atlas has guided them from Colchester Twist to Earls Court’s Give It A Name extravaganza; from Croydon Cartoon to a two-night stand at Brixton Academy with Lostprophets. The national tour with their Welsh comrades was barely halfway through before THE BLACKOUT had booked another huge jaunt in October with Dopamine to tell the world about their fierce panda mini-album, due in October.

Six tracks of passionate, crunching contemporary rock music with more melodies than you really should be able to squeeze into 25 tumultuous minutes, played by intense young men who come onstage to the wail of an air raid siren and have Frankenstein on their band t-shirts? That’ll be THE BLACKOUT’s ‘The Blackout The Blackout The Blackout’ mini-album then. Pick your jaw up from the floor at one of these live outbursts…
