The festive season gets chaotic for the littluns. Frantically flicking through the web for the next item to add to their lists and ensuring that there are treats for Santa and his reindeer are matters of urgency.

The Magical Christmas Winterland 

When: Saturday 22nd November - Wednesday 24th December 2025 

Where: Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield

Meadowhall’s Magical Christmas Winterland is so festive it could even bring your Grinchy uncle around to the occasion, Scrooge-style. It boasts a free-to-enter twinkling Christmas Village, family rides, circus performers, an apres bar, food, and more. 

And of course, there’s Santa’s Magical Grotto, where you’ll embark on an interactive Christmas experience, writing letters to Santa, breaking the Ice Queen's spell, and journeying through twinkling trees and icy paths, solving riddles and outsmarting foes, before sitting with Santa by the fire and receiving a present.

Think your DIY skills are impressive? Watch Santa and his elves put you to shame at Weston Park Museum. 

While the littluns get stuck into hands-on creative Christmassy activities, Santa will be spreading seasonal cheer, finding out what’s on their Christmas list and making sure everyone goes home with a quality present. The elves will be ensuring everyone’s enjoying the crafts, while families can go to see Santa in his grotto one by one. 

Little ones can get creative with crafts while Santa hands out gifts (his elves clearly do the heavy lifting). It’s festive, fun, and free from the risk of glitter explosions in your living room.

Sheffield Christmas Market 2025

When: Thursday 13th November - Wednesday 24th December 2025

Where: Sheffield City Centre in Sheffield

The Christmas market is back. With seasonal food, drink, presents, and festive vibes, the markets are always a great way to get into the spirit. Explore over 50 log cabins with Yorkshire pudding wraps, mulled wine and cider, and more, then visit Santa in his grotto on Barker's Pool. The grotto’s open every day, and you don’t need to pre-book. 

Gulliver’s Valley at Christmas

When: multiple dates from Sunday 16th November - Tuesday 23rd December 2025

Where: Gulliver’s Valley in Sheffield 

Gulliver’s has multiple Christmas experiences on offer that allow the family to meet Santa in his grotto. Among the experiences, there are opportunities to enjoy Christmas rides and attractions, Christmas shows, and the chance to explore Santa's house and see him in his grotto before choosing a gift from the elves’ workshop. Choose from day visits, festive breakfast events, and Santa sleepovers.

Meet and Greet with Santa - A Magical Christmas Eve Morning!

When: Wednesday 24th December 2025

Where: Cutlery Works in Sheffield

Stopping by at Cutlery Works ahead of his busiest night of the year, Santa stops by the food hall for a meet and greet before he heads out on his sleigh. On Christmas Eve, Cutlery Works brings us one of the best Santa grottos in Sheffield, where the littluns can share their Christmas wishes before leaving with a present. 

Christmas grotto 2025

When: 6th, 13th & 20th December, Monday 22nd - Wednesday 24th December

Where: The Market Place, Shopping Centre, Crystal Peaks in Sheffield

Run by the City Council, at this grotto, you’ll write a letter to Santa, craft your own Elf shows, and create a Naughty or Nice certificate. You’ll have a meet and greet with Santa and can snap a picture before running off to enjoy more festive fun! 

Santa’s Magical Elevator

When: multiple dates from Saturday 22nd November - Wednesday 24th December 2025

Where: Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley

Looking a little outside of Sheffield now, Cannon Hall Farm offers a grotto experience with a difference. Meet the North Pole elves before heading on the ride of your life through the clouds, before reaching the secret grotto entrance. Meet Santa, snap a family pic, and then visit the Toy Factory, where the elves are preparing for Christmas Eve, and leave with a gift. Oh, and of course you have to meet the real-life reindeer before you go! 

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner. And while the littluns are still feeling the buzz of the festivities, it's the perfect way to allow them to enjoy themselves (and gently remind them they need to stay on the Nice list).
