Here are some of the best places to see the fireworks in Edinburgh this Bonfire Night!

Unfortunately, due to the events around Edinburgh city centre during Bonfire night last year, the council have announced that there will be no official fireworks events in the city centre, and many neighbourhoods will be under police lockdown. So, unfortunately, this does mean that if you want to see some fireworks, you're going to have to travel to some of the surrounding towns.

But do not fear, as all these events are 45 minutes or less away from the centre, and you can still see the skies lit up in a mesmeric fashion this Bonfire Weekend, mouth agape, warmed by the bonfire. So, if you're wondering where to watch the fireworks in Edinburgh's surrounding towns, then we've got a list here for you!

SLA Fireworks Extravaganza 2023

When: Sunday 5th November 2023

Where: Myreside Rugby Ground in Edinburgh

One of the few fireworks events happening in relatively close proximity to the city centre, the SLA Fireworks Extravaganza is a fusion celebration of all things Scottish and Indian! Run in aid of empowering vulnerable children and young people in India, the event will feature a range of dazzling performances alongside the explosions in the sky. 

Such performances will include tribal drummers, Clanadonia, whose high-energy blend of tribal rhythms, bagpipes and tartan-clad mayhem has wowed audiences across the globe; a performance from Dance Ihaymi, Scotland's Indian dance company dedicated to Indian classical dance; The Delighters with their unique blend of fire, circus and theatre; and so much more.

Fawkes Festival: Family Firework Spectacular

If you're willing to travel just outside of the city centre, then Fawkes Festival have two absolutely massive bonfire night events in two of Scotland's most picturesque stately homes for you this Bonfire Weekend. Plus, with a special theme of 'Movie Magic' this year, there will be a unique edge to each of the displays, making for firework displays in Edinburgh as you've never seen them before, check them both out below for more details:

 

Fawkes Festival: Hopetoun House Family Firework Spectacular

When: Saturday 4th November 2023

Where: Hopetown House in Edinburgh

Scotland’s finest stately home is the dramatic backdrop for Fawkes Festival’s Family Fireworks Spectacular. West Lothian’s Hopetoun House, the star of numerous films and photo shoots, is the gorgeous location for the event’s ‘A Night At The Movies’ – an evening featuring fireworks, lights and lasers set to film scores and classic movie songs.

The pre-event entertainment includes a funfair, bar, catering, fire performers, MC, DJ, bubbles, fire pits, marshmallows, hot chocolate and performers. There will also be a real live giant bonfire and a brilliant bungee jump.

 

 

Fawkes Festival: Gosford House Family Firework Spectacular

When: Sunday 5th November 2023

Where: Gosford House in Edinburgh

Glorious Gosford House in East Lothian takes centre stage on Guy Fawkes Night when ‘Movie Magic’ is the theme for a thrilling evening culminating in a spectacular large-scale professional fireworks display choreographed to much-loved movie music with lights, sky trackers and lasers.

Entertainment before the unmissable and thrilling fireworks extravaganza includes a funfair, catering, MC, DJ, bubbles, fire pits, marshmallows, hot chocolate and performers.

 

 


 

Knockhill Racing Circuit: Live-Action & Fireworks Spectacular

When: Saturday 4th November 2023

Where: Knockhill Racing Circuit in Dunfermline

If you're willing to do a bit of travelling (around 45 minutes from the city centre) then you will be paid in due reward by the Knockhill Racing Circuits Firework Spectacular; a live-action motorsport extravaganza, both on and off the track, for all the family, and especially your racing nuts. 

Featuring a multitude of action on track, centred around Knockhill’s famous tri-oval section of the track, at the Hairpin, topped off with a show stopping, incredible fireworks display, there are few events in the country which mix these two, and it'll certainly be a unique one, as well as a full day of fun, instead of just the usual few hours at a normal bonfire.

Arniston Bonfire Night Fireworks Party

When: Sunday 5th November 2023

Where: Arniston House & Estate in Edinburgh

Just over half an hour outside the city centre, the beautiful grounds of Arniston Castle will come alive with, not one, not two, but THREE, bonfires for their annual family firework party. The lighting will be followed by an incredible firework display courtesy of Pyromancer, and a whole host of delicious foods from Wee Green Events, some tasty treats of freshly popped popcorn, and a variety of hot beverages to keep the chill away. Watch the Fireworks from Arthur's Seat

When: All Weekend

Where: Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh

With the cancellation of the Official City Centre fireworks shows, there may be a rise in local DIY fireworks, if you can't travel to any of the aforementioned events, you might really be stuck on where to watch the fireworks in Edinburgh. Well, finding a good vantage point to watch all these unfold could be a really nice alternative plan for this bonfire night in Edinburgh. Oh, and what better place to watch than from Arthur's seat?

Whilst the walk up there in the dark may not be recommended if you have some younger people with you, it'll be a truly magical experience sitting back and watching a skyscape of fireworks explode over Scottish skies. Plus, it'll cost absolutely nowt!
