Teesside's favourite music festival returns to the historic grounds of Gisborough Priory in what will be its 5th year. A host of top tribute bands will entertain the crowds at this iconic location over 2 nights at the end of the month.

The English Heritage site will see thousands of party goers dancing and singing along to classic hits from Queen, The Killers, Robbie Williams, Pink and The Beautiful South on Saturday 29th July. The site will be transformed into a spectacular arena, with the ancient Priory used as a backdrop for the main stage.

The "party in the park" experience allows guests to bring their own food and drink and most groups set up camp with tables, chairs and gazebos and really make a night of it. "The atmosphere is amazing" said Jason Bushby, operations manager for JAZ Events. We have been involved in some of the biggest festivals in the country but Summer Sound is hard to beat for the atmosphere. Everyone has a smile on their face and Jason puts in down to a good mix of artists with classic hits from start to finish.

The weekend kicks off on Friday 28th July with a 70's and 80's retro themed night featuring tributes to Elvis, The Blues Brothers, Madonna and Michael Jackson with support from Big Sigh and the Yawns. A fancy dress extravaganza is guaranteed as most people join in the fun although it is optional.

The nights are hosted by local radio DJ's from Zetland FM and this year sees comedy duo Matt Gloss and Timmy Mullet take over the Friday night party. Nick Wright will be in control on Saturday night and most people will remember him from the famous Ormesby Hall 70's nights.

It's not just great music... there is a BBQ and food village, licensed bar, cocktail bar, street entertainers, circus games, rodeo bull and festival stalls and not forgetting the grand firework finale on each night!

The event has established itself as one of the biggest tribute festivals in the North. "We have people travelling from all over the country" says Jason. Its a great boost for the local economy with hotels, shops, bars and restaurants all booming over the weekend.

Guisborough has recently seen a small resurgence with the opening of several bars and restaurants and the Summer Sound festival is something everyone looks forward to each year, its great for the town.
